About Warsaw

Warsaw. Capital of Poland

The biggest city in the whole country. Established in 13th century, it continuously is a center of science, art and culture. A city of Mermaid and of parks (1/4th of the city’s area is parkland). We could be going over it on and on, but you can read all the official stuff on WarsawTour (official website for foreign tourists, available in 7 languages) or watch a video about it.

Let us explain here why we consider Warsaw exceptional. The reasons are as follows:

  • transport
  • architecture
  • food
  • atmosphere
  • great place to play Ingress

Dive into amazing atmosphere of Warsaw. We don’t have a typical art district but the life and culture is flowing through every space, however big or small. Street art, sculptures, numerous galleries and museums. There is always something going on. It is a city in which every little quirk matters, where it is a good idea to strand from well paved paths and just get lost in it 🙂

In this place we strongly encourage you to raise your head above the scanners and just take a look around. Warsaw had a rough past. Majority of it has been destroyed during the WWII and then rebuilt. One could say that Warsaw is old but new. Discover all styles of architecture which Warsaw has to offer, e.g. socialist realism, rococo, brutalism and modernism. Or you can simply join us in on a walk and see the last buildings that survived the WWII. Sometimes we need to embrace the ugly to fully experience rich history and great full beauty of Warsaw.

Palace of Culture and Science

It is the center for various companies, public institutions and cultural activities such as concerts, cinemas, theaters, libraries, sports clubs, universities, scientific institutions.

Food & Durnk

Hungry? Then you are in a good place. Warsaw is a culinary melting pot. Numerous cultures that are present here are also well represented by many kitchens. Just make sure to try our Polish cuisines as well. Best example? Dumplings (“pierogi”). They are amazing. You can get the best ones in “bar mleczny”. Literal translation would be “a milky bar”, but it is simply a restaurant selling cheap food (not to be confused with fast food). See the VIDEO about Bar Mleczny. If you want some fine dining, Warsaw has best restaurants in Poland, honoured by Michelin or Gault&Millau. And if you need a cheap and fast lunch in between the missions, Warsaw also has it covered. What to do, when the anomaly and missions are over and you want to have your well-deserved rest? Sit with us in a pub and try Poland’s best craft beers.

Public transportation

It is efficient, fast and affordable. Our subway map may make you laugh a bit, but the whole system, with buses, trams etc. can compete with the best ones. We assure you, you’re gonna love it 🙂 With your weekend ticket you can use every public mean of transportation. See the TRANSPORT section on this website.

Warsaw has LTE+ coverage in most parts of the city. What else would players need? Some portals you might say? We have plenty of them! We also have many places with high density of portals. We will work hard to make a guide. Stay tuned.

Come and experience Warsaw on your own, with friends, family, strangers, teammates. Don’t be afraid to explore. Warsaw is very safe and extremely interesting. Everyone can find something to love about it.
